Happy {Fathers} Friday

What are our dad’s if not our first dance partners, cheerleaders, and the first shoulders we ever sit on?

Today we offer massive gratitude to our dads,   Rick and Bubsy.  The two handsome gents you see here.

Ours hearts were made lighter, our paths were made clearer, and our confidence was made greater because of you both.

Thanks to my darling dad, I know that sitting still is an art, being non-judgmental is a way of life, and making people laugh is a gift.

Yes, I'd gladly boogie all night long with you two.

And even though I can’t celebrate my dad in the way most people will this weekend – physically together or chatting on the phone – I will be raising a glass to him.

To his legacy and his charm.

His blue eyes and his wit.

His joke telling and his grass cutting.

And when the grandchildren arrived, somehow they took on an ever greater luster.

Grandpa and brand new Benny Boy.

Pop-pop and Bunny Belle.

You should know this, friends, because it feels dishonest not to tell you: this site and our business would not exist for me were it not for my dad, and most importantly his last year on earth.

He is why I’ve learned the majority of the important things in my life.

MOST NOTABLY:

That the time to be me is now.

That hugging my loved ones is a gift.

That celebrating the people I love is number one on my list of things to do.

That waiting is for people who don’t get it.

Our lives are now and our time to be amazing is this moment.  I know this because of my dad.  And I am forever grateful.

How do I love thee . . .

Dads give us that feeling of invincibility.  And oh how we take it for granted sometimes.

This is a weekend for taking nothing for granted.  It’s for acknowledging your blessings and saying thank you out loud.  It’s for knowing that no matter your situation, you are loved immensely.

Group hug.

Because grooving is in our genes, a dedication from us LYL ladies goes out to our first two favorite guys ever.

Daddy-o and Papa T,  this one’s for you.

In celebration, love and gratitude (and always available if you need a buddy to toast with),

Sara
